U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Presents NASA Scholarships to two Bolivian Students
On June 5, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Bolivia Kris Urs presented two NASA International Space School Foundation scholarships to two Bolivian high school students.  Outstanding students Santiago Murillo of the Cochabamba Cooperative School, and Hugo Ignacio Mobarec of San Ignacio School in La Paz, received the scholarships this year.(more...)

Prominent U.S. Hispanic Leader Visits Bolivia
The Honorable J. Walter Tejada, member of Arlington County Board since 2003, visited Bolivia last week invited by the U.S. Department of State. Arlington is home to one of the largest Bolivian communities living in the United States. Tejada is an outstanding Hispanic leader who is committed to protecting and enriching the diversity of the Arlington area. He also serves as Vice President of the National Association of Hispanic County Officials.(more...)

U.S. Embassy Speaker Program: VICE CONSUL VISITS THE CBA

Vice Consul Mark Bliss, from the U.S. Embassy in La Paz, visited the Centro Boliviano Americano in Cochabamba on the morning of 25 March as the presenter for the program “Meet Someone Interesting.” The Vice Consul told the crowd of approximately 60 students about growing up in the Mid West, about his hometown and about his education and employment prior to joining the U.S. Department of State. He also provided valuable information concerning the visa process. (more...)

THE U.S. EMBASSY, LA PAZ CONTINUES THE BOOK DONATION PROGRAM IN SACABA

The city of Sacaba, a rural suburb of Cochabamba, was the scene of the most recent installation of the U.S. Embassy’s book donation program “Estados Unidos y Bolivia, unidos en la lectura”. The event, which took place at the city’s main cathedral on the morning of 26 March, was attended by municipal government officials, church officials, school teachers and representatives and, of course, the primary beneficiaries of this program, children from three local schools in Sacaba. ARCHITECTURE OF THE UNITED STATES EXHIBIT OPENS AT THE SIMON I. PATINO CULTURAL CENTER

The Office of Press and Culture of the U.S. Embassy, La Paz, in conjunction with the Simon I. Patino Pedagogical and Cultural Center of Cochabamba, opened the “Architecture of the United States” exhibit on the beautiful grounds of the Center on the evening of 25 March. The exhibit features the work of eight influential American architects of the second half of the twentieth century, each a winner of the prestigious “Pritzker Award” for architecture.
Architect Elizabeth Torres, director of the Center, along with Vice Consul Mark Bliss, as the representative of the U.S. Embassy, opened the program with about 60 members (more...)
