The Office of Press and Culture of the U.S. Embassy, La Paz, in conjunction with the Simon I. Patino Pedagogical and Cultural Center of Cochabamba, opened the “Architecture of the United States” exhibit on the beautiful grounds of the Center on the evening of 25 March. The exhibit features the work of eight influential American architects of the second half of the twentieth century, each a winner of the prestigious “Pritzker Award” for architecture.
Architect Elizabeth Torres, director of the Center, along with Vice Consul Mark Bliss, as the representative of the U.S. Embassy, opened the program with about 60 members of the university and art community of Cochabamba in attendance. The well received exhibit and display, which seeks to address fundamental questions and influences of American architecture, was designed by Carmen Julia Arze, the graphic designer of the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Press and Culture in La Paz.
The American Architects featured in the exhibit are: Robert Venturi, Richard Meier, Frank O. Gehry, Thom Mayne, Gordon Bunshaft, I.M. Pei, Phillip Johnson, and Kevin Roche. The exhibit will be open through 16 April.
