NATURAL RESOURCES  PROJECT
Summary of Goals and Objectives

Project PurposeCommunity members will improve their quality of life through implementation of appropriate technologies related to the efficient use of soil, water and vegetation natural resources.

Goal 1
CONSERVATION

Community members will routinely apply appropriate sustainable soil, water and vegetation practices. 
Volunteers and their work partners will:

  • train 1000 land users in appropriate water management practices
  • train 1000 land users in soil conservation practices
  • train 1000 land users in vegetative management practices

Goal 2
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Community members will develop a commitment to environmental protection by participating in environmental education activities.  Volunteers and their work partners will:

  • train 500 community members and leaders in environmental educational concepts
  • train 500 students and teachers in environmental education concepts
  • establish or strengthen Youth Conservation Clubs (YCCs) in 10 communities

Goal 3
MUNICIPAL SUPPORT

Targeted municipal governments will provide direct support to natural resource management and environmental education activities.  Volunteers and their work partners will:

  • assist local land users and/or organizations to develop and present funding proposals for environmental projects
  • work with members of three YCCs to develop and present funding proposals for projects that enhance community environmental awareness and action
