Welcome Message

Philip S. Goldberg
Philip S. Goldberg
As the United States of America’s Ambassador to Bolivia, I’d like to welcome you to the Virtual Presence Post of the United States of America for Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Virtual Presence Posts are a new outreach method of U.S. diplomacy to bring together all the information about the official activities of the United States in a city outside the capital.  In addition to launching this website, the U.S. Embassy has named a City Team headed by Tovan McDaniel, to serve as special outreach coordinators between the American people and the people of Cochabamba.  Some members of the City Team are actually based in Cochabamba, such as our Consular Agent Bill Scarborough, and some are based in La Paz but travel frequently to Cochabamba.

Although the U.S. Embassy does not have a Consulate in Cochabamba, with the Cochabamba VPP we are recognizing our special connection with Cochabamba and its citizens.  We hope to use this portal to underscore our commitment to this great city, to share the rich diversity of both of our countries, and to strengthen the enduring bond between the people of Bolivia and the United States.
